Training and background

Dr (TCM) D'Alberto's journey into traditional Chinese medicine began with a full five-year undergraduate degree at Beijing University — one of the most respected institutions for TCM training in the world. Graduating in 2004 with a BSc (Hons), he went on to establish a clinical practice in the UK that has grown over the past 25 years into a trusted resource for patients dealing with a wide spectrum of health conditions.

His training encompassed the full breadth of TCM — acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, classical Chinese medical theory, dietary therapy and Tui Na (Chinese therapeutic massage). This comprehensive foundation means he is able to draw on the complete TCM toolkit when building your treatment plan, rather than relying on acupuncture alone.

Philosophy of care

Dr D'Alberto's approach is grounded in the conviction that lasting health outcomes require treating the whole person. In his experience, the most common reason people do not improve with conventional treatment is not that the treatment is wrong — it is that the root cause has not been identified and addressed. TCM's diagnostic system, which looks at patterns of disharmony across all aspects of a person's health, often reveals connections that Western medicine does not examine.

Every patient I see has a unique story. My job is to listen carefully, diagnose accurately and build a treatment plan that addresses not just the symptoms, but the underlying imbalance driving them.

Your first appointment

First appointments last around an hour. Dr D'Alberto will guide you through a detailed consultation covering your presenting concerns, medical history, sleep, digestion, emotional state and lifestyle. He will take your pulse at both wrists and examine your tongue — two of the most important diagnostic tools in TCM — before synthesising all of this information into a clear TCM diagnosis.

You will leave your first appointment with a clear understanding of your diagnosis and a treatment plan. In most cases, acupuncture begins at the first session. Subsequent appointments last 45–60 minutes and allow for reassessment and ongoing refinement of your treatment.

Areas of specialist interest

While Dr D'Alberto treats the full range of conditions seen in TCM practice, he has developed particular clinical depth in the following areas:
